I hunted an old fortsite for about an hour..in north fla on the way back from being on vacation on one of our whitewater trips this past summer...i have never been into the relic part of hunting at those old forts...and nearly never dug iron signals...however i did dig a piece of lead that was next to this iron signal...(the stirrup) which was quite hard to get out of the ground...a root had grown through the hole of the base of the stirrup...and since i was right there...finished the job of recovering it! I have included a few pics of it...and hope maybe someone can date it or close....? thanks for looking...! many times , small towns or settlements grew from the original fortsites...(second seminole war forts..circa 1830's) so items do come up from more modern times...im guessing the stirrup is an item like this...but just not sure!
