I found this Sketch type post card in my 1848 home, behind one of my fireplace mantles in the parlor. In the pic is the well known poet RW Emersons home and one of his famous poems. it also has his signature on it, that I have checked with letters that he has wrote from the mid 1800's and it is a match. I honestly have no idea how old this might be, but it is very brittle and with the style I would think 1800's. It does have another signature of the name Harlow and a company name of Wolf & co,Phila on the pic. I did not find any info on these names related to post cards or other types? RW Emerson was born in 1803 and died in 1882.
I thought this was very interesting and thought I would share.

p.s. I do not know much about older style pics like this, i could use any help on possible time era for it's type.

Thanks Tank, No I haven't checked that house yet, I have just been working on it and hopefully get the opportunity to search it very soon.

Sometimes things were put into the walls to hide, or act as insulation also.

That looks like a late 1800's post card. My guess is that is a tourist post card from the late 1800's, and the signature is a reproduction. Still pretty cool.
