Hi everyone!
from what i was told, it's a pre-civil war Georgia republican blues militia button.
was wondering if any of you southern guys or military experts can tell me anything about this regiment or any historical background on this button and the unit or company that wore these?
hard to make out the backmark due to the corrosion.
any help would be appreciated.
thanks!
dave

Dang, you dug that thing two years ago and didn't post it before now??? That's a GREAT BUTTON!! :headbang: :headbang: Definitely would've been a candidate for Banner....Very Very Cool button! :icon_thumright:

It's not a recent find ?? The odds of digging that one is very rare and yours is in great shape. Very nice.

Hello everyone. I'm a new member that just signed up -- this is my first post. I'm doing a little research and trying to locate a photo of a Georgia militia button from the years 1810 to 1836. This would be to match the buttons on the uniform of James Fannin -- (see attached image). He was an Officer in the Georgia militia, out of Columbus, GA -- between 1810 to 1836. Can anyone provide a photo of the correct button?
