I saw you screen name and had to post. Are you at the Manhattan campus?
Student or prof?

There are a handful of Kansas people on here.

I'm in McPherson County.

I'll bet you need new batteries....its the cheapest thing you can try.

Yea Im in Manhattan. Currently I'm an undergrad majoring in econ but I graduated in marketing in may. Im originally from Kansas City. Find anything interesting in McPherson. Ive found for some reason there are a lot of people in Kansas with detectors.

I too own a Classic 2, but have never had that problem. You state that you have never changed the batteries so that's where I would start. Check out the wires leading from the 9 volts, especially the red ones. Move them around and see if maybe they became loose.
The classic is a really great coin hunter. Hope yours gets well soon.
