New to the group... not entirely green (Detected ALOT on-land in the 1980s with Compass and the original BH Red Baron - glorious days).

I know the most common tip will be: "Get a SandShark, buddy" (but I had a budget; could onlly afford a VLF this time). Taking my Cibola to the beach for the first time tomorrow at dawn. From what I've read, I might have a chance (in Hades?) of it working OK on dry sand with the SENS and THRESH set low, and with DISCRIM set just below TAB. Any tips for tomorrow's hunt would be welcomed from you guys. If you tell me to stick to the landlubbin', I won't blame you or feel offended.

ALSO: Should I ZIPLOCK the unit to protect from sand & wind? Any other info appreciated.
