LOL I wouldn't be to upset about that nice RP button. I'd gladly take either Military OR Silver on a hunt. Sometimes I get both, but not all that often. Looks like you're raking in the military finds as of late.

Regards,

Buck

Yes, I certainly have no complaints with the numbers. My first few years I was getting an early military button just about every hunt, and that made for a pretty big pile of them because we hunted a lot... but the last several years they didn't seem to want to show as much, but here they are again flowing fairly steady for me. Hoping I can grab one more to close the show on Tuesday.

Not quite sure. Gilted back, shows where something like a shank was attached to the middle, but covers a little more surface than what you would expect so the proportion doesn't seem right for a button. It's sort of the same idea as if you were to find one of those large old tacks with just the head... you can tell it was a tack and not a domed button. The site it was from seemed to have a pretty tight time frame, so I feel it would date 1830s/40s.

Nice hunt even though the shiny disks still elude you, the pewter has good detail to it. What's the little shiny widget lower right hand corner of the buckle?

Part of a small ring I dug while walking out of the field and beside the modern house on the property.

Couldn't agree with you more... the modern silver does nothing for me, and even stuff like Seated and Victorian, very little. As for the early stuff, it would be a case by case basis because I have many buttons I love way more than the typical old silver, and many silver I love more than the typical Rev button find.

Got to agree on the "case by case" . Definitely there are some coins I'd love to find and Spanish are some of my favorites, but I love the personal connection with buttons and history I feel with a lot of buttons. My Rev War buttons are in the top of my list. Great save on the RP.

I have quite a few and it was tough getting those, and now to get something different sure doesn't happen often. But getting an upgrade is cool too, and considering the condition of most of mine there's lots of room for improvement.

Good job on two rev war pewters in one dig.

Don't sweat the silver, the detecting lords work in mysterious ways, and hey, it ain't over till the fa....till it's over.

Great Dec. might get out myself on Mon.

Great buttons! 2 Rev War buttons in one hunt is awesome! I'm still waiting on my first. 2 USA intertwined buttons have been found by my buddies, at my site...

That's a bit of a drag, but will just make getting your own all the better. Ironhorse has 3 of one token, and 2 of the same button I've been waiting for, for many years. They are relatively rare local finds so there is no guarantee, but I'll keep looking and it will be a great day should I ever get over them. I really do believe I will at some point, just not sure when.
