Show off yer sluice

My original post was buried in this thread long ago so here is an updated where it all stands today. Sluice and trommel are all completed and ready. Took nearly 1 year to complete due to all the personal issues but its done. The sluice is filled with Gold Hog Mats. Its 60 inches long, 12 inches wide, and 4 inches deep. I can't wait until I can throw some rock and dirt into the machine and let it classify to 1/2 inch and allow the mats capture the gold.

Truly a beautiful 1 of a kind machine. Very nice. I certainly enjoyed reading as you built it. Can't wait to see how it works!
 

Very, very pro quality work. Looking forward to seeing it in action once your personal life settles down a bit. Still keeping your dad and brother in my prayers.

Wow! One of the cleanest and posibly most productive systems I've seen in htis string yet. I would buy a model like that. Kudos bro!:hello2:

Jesse, Kevin, Baker, CA, thank you for the kind comments. Will see how it goes as being a productive trommel as its going to be up to what the Arizona landscape will give up and where I choose to dig. You can have all the gear in the world, but if your not on the gold it will not pay off. Look at TOAD HOFFMAN, he spends millions and has nothing to show for it, but I doubt we have any idiots such as TOAD as our members in these forums have a better handle on how to find AU.

Some dumb asses bright idea to TRY and convey wet and frozen material ... Didn't work! To hell with that feed it with a track hoe

Home made using an old aluminum support from the California Capitol building and Gold Hog matting along with a green rubber matting from a different manufacturer. Works like a charm!

Hey Kevin, just ordered up the same model, partly based on some of your reviews. So thanks for those! Curious how long it took you to make the dam for it, and does it always need that much angle to run? I would love to meet up with you sometime if possible, for some hands on training with this thing? I'm close to the Loveland area if you care to have company sometime! Thanks again

The dam was a 5 minute investment to start and then I tossed my tailings on it as I worked so it got better and better. That's my usual approach.

No, it doesn't always need that much angle, good in that case due to the slow moving water. With fast water you can run it flatter. However too flat (or too slow of water) will mean you are spending time clearing the grizzly (not the end of the world but slows production down). People experienced with other sluices ( those funny old things with riffles lol) tend to run a Bazooka too flat and shallow and slow. This is just dumb! Check out the videos on the Bazooka website to see how steep and fast Todd runs em!
 

I just finished the plumbing rough-in. It's an AM expedition on my home made HB. I hope to finish it tomorrow, depending on if I feel like working, then hopefully do a clean test tomorrow with clean water and tweak the spray bars. Next down the road, I'll add the fitting for the dredge after I fab the nozzle.
