Very nice finds, congratulations! :occasion14:

Thanks. Its probably not super old being that it still has a lot of gilt left on it but it should clean up better

Nice silver & congrats on your coins and button finds - thanks for sharing your pictures and story with us. Anyway I wish you many more great finds while out dirt fishing.

Can't help you with the button but I love the double silvers.
Silver makes any hunt a great hunt in my book no matter what form it comes in.
Congrats.....

Thanks. Im gonna post this button in whats it forum. The silvers are always welcome. I hadnt found any forseveral weeks

I think the button is 1820s navy? Not sure off the top of my head but it's a starting point I guess.

Thanks. Its definitely one of my best button finds but very odd to have been found in the yard of a much newer home

Congrats on the sweet hunt. :occasion14: I'd definitely hit that site again in a different direction.

Sweet silvers and button!! Hope you can get a positive ID on it.

Toasted that button should date between 1820-1830. It's a nice early one. I believe 62B in The Alberts book if you have access to one. Is there a visible backmark?

Thanks. Ive gotta try and clean it better to read the writing on the back. How should I clean it?

Here is one that I used naval jelly on. I wet a qtip then dip it into the jelly. I then wet the button a bit and roll the qtip gently across the surface. I only do 20 seconds or so at a time. Then a couple drops of dish soap and rinse the button. This will neutralize the jelly. You just need to really be careful as the jelly can go from good to too much in a hurry....hence the short sessions
