Sleepy's Most Wanted (Roosevelt Dimes)

After having searched through $7,110 worth of dimes, I figured I'd get a Whitman Coin book (1946-1964 Dimes). I'm going to make it my goal to fill it by the end of the year! To the right is my "Most Wanted" List to help keep track of my progress. I want all of my finds to be from CRHing, so I won't be purchasing any of them. Here goes nothing! :headbang: 1)1955

First 1/2 New Penny I've ever found. Didn't even know there was such a thing. Pretty cool. Also, today's 1950D looked AU. Didn't even get to that silver look you think of when you find a circulated silver FDR. Below is a comparison between the '50D and another coin that I would consider to be in very good shape for a silver Roosie...

More good boxes! That makes at least one mercury dime in each of the last four hunts. Also got my second Mackerel Dime today. The first one I found was of the 50% silver variety, so now I have both. 8-)

I think your finds will be steadily like this or even increase with the approaching holidays, since we know people will be scrounging for extra cash this time of year. Look forward to the results!

I think that makes a lot of sense considering my best two weeks all-time previously came the week before Christmas and the week OF Christmas. Plus, I haven't seen the ALL 2019 boxes for a couple months now.

I believe you would. Yeah, just do what you can...Your third box from the other day was already better than my best 2019 box, which is now six.

Dimes
$5085 (20.34 boxes) - 33 FDRs and 2 Mercs

Notable: 1967 80% Canadian, 1943 Steel Cent

Total Ag: 2.592 oz //2019 High

Another great week in terms of quantity of finds. Someone musta dumped a lot into the system as of late. Once again, a comparison of where this week falls in terms of my all-time Top 5 best weeks while on the Most Wanted hunt.

1) 70 FDRs on $3000 searched (16-21 Dec 2013)
2) 50 FDRs on $3000 searched (23-28 Dec 2013)
>3) 33 FDRs on $5085 searched (4-9 Nov 2019)
4) 30 FDRs on $4700 searched (28-2 Nov 2019)
5) 19 FDRs on $5165 searched (29-3 Aug 2013)

Additional note: We didn't find any 'S' mints during the week. My model is now saying that it will take on average 84 silver FDRs found in order to fill the next hole. We've found 51 since the last hole was filled. Hopefully the FDRs keep coming this week.

Wow! We were able to pull 14 FDRs and 1 silver schooner today. That is a 2019 high for one day. The story behind Box 7 goes something like this...I get a call on Friday from a vault manager. She says she won't be in on Tuesday and could I come a different day. I told her I could just skip a week, no big deal. She says, "I will leave a box with [another teller that you know], but if he needs to open them you won't have a box." Cool...so I get to this bank around 4pm and the teller says to me, "we got hammered for change today, but for some reason nobody wanted dimes!" Great! Turns out that box was a big one for the Most Wanted hunt as the #4 Most Wanted coin went down today. Guess I got really lucky that the teller didn't need to break that box open. It truly is a game of inches, to borrow a football reference. For those keeping score at home, that was the 64th FDR on an initial projection of 72 and latest projection of 84, so we're ahead of the game. Now, my model is projecting 105 FDRs in order to fill the next hole. :o Gotta mine this silver vein for all its got before it dries up. Well, that's 45 down...3 to go!

You're now within the realm of possibility of finishing the series with one box. Wouldn't that be a heckuva way to finish off 2019? I'm rootin' for ya! :hello2:

Just a day of absolute craziness! I was at a bank today when a trusted teller asked if I also collect halves. I said I did. She replied, "I have a half if you want it. I'm pretty sure it's silver." Got out to the car expecting a 40%er, but it turned out to be the real deal. First 90% half of the year for me. Then, I get home and see this in one of my MWR's:

IMAG2106.jpg
Wheat Cent Ender on an MWR Dimes Roll

You see things like this on eBay with CWR's...you know, "Wheat roll with a mercury dime on end!", that kinda stuff. This is the first time I've ever seen something like this in an MWR dime roll! Turns out there's a reason...it was one of those "beaten to be the size of a dime" pennies. Just when you thought it couldn't get any more bizarre, I pull an Australian war coin! Amazing detail on the reverse, and then there's the obverse...it looks like someone took a knife and intentionally scraped it. Maybe it was a coin counter victim and the previous owner just shoved it into a CWR. :dontknow: Anyway, pics below:

*the 'D' in 1942D is, believe it or not, the Denver mint.

This one particular coin counter I go to has shorted me badly twice...once for ~$5 and another time for about $10. The $10 time, I actually asked the teller to check if dimes were spewed all over the inside because I've seen that before - nothing! Oh well. You might say I should eliminate this branch as a dump bank, but something keeps this coin counter in the inventory. Today's a great example of why. I've found four silver FDRs at coin counters this year - all four in or around this exact coin counter. Two were found in the reject tray, one shot out at me when the counter turned on, and still another was found on top of a plastic grocery bag in the overflowing wastebasket next to the machine. Oh, and of the 8 steelies I've found while dumping this year, 4-6 of them have come from this same coin counter. So yeah, she giveth and she taketh...today, she giveth...

Felt like two separate weeks. Found 24 silver coins this week, but 75% was realized on Tues/Wed. Found the 1950S, but snapped a record tying 4-week merc finding streak. As a fellow numbers junkie, I so admire that you've broken this down to statistical probability. Yet also disappointed that it will end in March when you move cities again. Only the great GMan came close to being this analytical with his figures. I only wish more would do it here. Heck, I wish more people would simply post their pics vertically and list dates! Alas, not everyone can be Rosco53.

I don't think I ever posted any spreadsheets in my threads, but when I was searching heavy I loved using them. Here's a sample of how I detailed my searching.
