IMG_1811.JPG I found this button, there does not seem to be any pictures of it anywhere, but if someone could help me identify it and tell me if its worth anything that would be great.

Welcome to Tnet! Looks like you may have a British 38th Regiment of Foot button. I am unsure of the time period of the button, hopefully someone will chime in soon.

Agreed & looks early 1800s, but a reverse picture & backmark will help?

I sent the picture of your button to the Staffordshire Regiment Museum in England. Mr. Jeff Elson, Head of Research, states that this particular insignia was used from 1855 to 1881 by the 38th Staffordshire Foot Regiment. Can you tell us where in Ireland the button was found? It would be of interest to the Museum to know.
