Some Old British Button?

I found this button, there does not seem to be any pictures of it anywhere, but if someone could help me identify it and tell me if its worth anything that would be great.

No, it's a 2 piece, mid. to late 1800s.

My first thought as well, but the crown bothered me, looks pre-victorian

there inst really any clear writing, but if it helps it was found in ireland

38th Regiment of Foot (1st Staffordshire) 1782 - served in Ireland.....

Being a 2 piece, it has to be mid-late 19th C as IP stated.

I sent the picture of your button to the Staffordshire Regiment Museum in England. Mr. Jeff Elson, Head of Research, states that this particular insignia was used from 1855 to 1881 by the 38th Staffordshire Foot Regiment. Can you tell us where in Ireland the button was found? It would be of interest to the Museum to know.
