In an effort to make this long story shorter,
guess where I wound up going today?

2017 (214).jpg

I found the interesting piece on the left,
the last time I went there.

Today, after a lonnnnnnng story of failed
places I tried to go to, I wound up back in
my "field of dreams", relic hunting.

The very first thing I dig!? Was the piece
on the right. LOL

Not a super day out but better than just going
back home to stew over the cold weather coming.

My eyes just aren't good enough to make out
anything. But, even a completely toasted copper
is a fun find! ESPECIALLY, today!! :BangHead:

Guess it'll hold me 'til Spring. ;)

Thanks for peeking!

Good to see your Getting out yet Wadi.

if your confident your "tool tag says" B "M" S Co

or Workers Tag. (Predecessor to Time Clock)

it is Probably B.S. Manufacturing Company and considering where you live the B may be Baltimore

Baltimore steel ? too Generic to be sure.

or B.S. Mining Company

But only a Guess

Thanks Jeff! It's definitely BMSCo. Trouble is, I can't find a single company with that combination from the era I believe this to be. I've tried bouncing many, many combination of "logical" words off google but nothing yet. Even our great and wonderful experts over on "What Is It" appear to be stymied.

I even thought it might be a slave tag company of some sort. There were slaves on this piece of property. Probably something more common though. Manufacturing, a cow numbering tag, a cargo tag, etc. etc.

We all love a mystery! But........MAN! It can be sooooo frustrating!! :BangHead::dontknow:

Oh I had no doubt. Probably knew before you as well. ;)

I never thought of it, But Cow or even pig tag could also be right.

one thing for sure

B.M.S. Co.
and
B. "M" S. Co.
conjure up many different possibilities.

I don't see the " " above the M

a directory of businesses in the general area over the last hundred years would
most likely help.

My bad, Jeff. The first pic was so bad everyone was seeing a V where the M is. so I placed the quotes to call that to attention.
There are no physical quote marks stamped.

I've been going back thru the years to find a business where the initials make sense. No luck thus far.
And, evidently, it's tough t find because even the experts on the "What Is It" forum haven't even been able to respond yet. ;)

Thanks for making the effort.

How about Bull Maintenance Systems Company? (just made that up!) :tongue3:

Hey Jeff! How about this for a thought?

I can't find anything to prove my theory, but maybe this is a tag from the
Bristol Myers Squibb Company?

I'm guessing from the 1800's (cuz that's what I want it to be. ;) But, the font on certain
letters does seem to suggest it might be the case.

Not sure how it might've been used though. Maybe a tag on a shipment of medicines?
Whatcha think? :dontknow:
It's the closest I can come up with, I love a good mystery, don't you? :tongue3:
