I remember FIRECRACKERS, that is the real thing. We use to through hammerheads down the street drains. Yes I know this was bad. The methane explosion sometimes blew the sewer lids off for a block around and the rats vacated rapidly. We use to have 4" crackers that were about the same as 1/4 stick of dynamite. We use to shoot torpedoes with our slingshots. We also spread them on the road and watched the cars pull over looking for the flat. We use to have roman candle and bottle rocket battles. ****** yes, we were bad, but we all survived****** Frank

Same here Frank!!! I remember doing that stuff around the fourth in Washington State when I was a kid. It was great fun. Maine just last year legalized fireworks again now that we have a good governor. Still can't get the real good stuff though! :laughing7:

How about soda coming in those glass bottles? Mcdonalds styrofoam packaging? Leaded gas? Oh wait, we all know which group had a problem with all those things.....like the incandesant light bulb.

The light-bulbs are a bit of a problem. I don't like the florescent type, they are junk and the LED lights are not fully developed and there price has hit the moon. Phillips made a quartz version of the regular bulb and I stocked up on them. I think the next thing is going to be wall and ceiling panels with embedded LED or OLED technology. Frank

Oled reference - that high tech. My company helped to fund that industry when I was doing new efficiency technology investments. Very cool stuff. Actually the new compact fluorescent lightbulbs aren't too bad - no buzz, color pretty good, last a long time - good price.

One could set their entire life's moral code based upon the rifleman. I loved that show when I was young and still watch reruns of it. Chuck Connors was actually a pretty amazing man.

Does anyone know what ever happen to the riflemans rifle??? Was it ever sold / auctioned. I'd by that in a heart beat.

Black sheep was good, I also liked rat patrol - remember that one.

They came out a bit to fast with the OLEDs. The first TVs were real bummers. The blue just faded away in about a year. I think they finally found another material to produce the blue. Frank

I could look at the change in my pocket and likely find a 1943 penny. We called them lead pennies. A birthday gift might ez have been a silver dollar.

On a roll. Many people today use the term "Gang busters" but don't know it's from a radio program and in the early days of TV. The show was about cops catching criminals that were real bad guys. The Barker gang. Willie (the Actor) Sutton, Dillinger etc. The beginning of the show had a group of uniformed prison guards marching at night in the prison yard. I can still hear their boots hit the ground.

You must be close to my age. The radio version started the word gangbusters drawn out and then the sound of Thompsons blasting away. Frank
