My skunk streak has been sitting at 87 for quite some time now, since I stopped ordering boxes after confirming that Phoenix (And only Phoenix so far, luckily for you guys and gals. :icon_thumleft: ) has that new machine that discriminates anything that is not the desired alloy of coin (Clad. thus silver gets "rejected", not culled, but same result.) However, when I go to banks to pick up other coins, I ALWAYS ask for ALL halves they happen to have. I may not order boxes, but i want them to still think of me as THE guy who ALWAYS wants ALL halves. It has worked wonders for me for the past year, and I have fun with other denominations (Mostly pennies) while trying ot find a few halves too.

Today I went to 15 banks and asked for $100 to $200 of quarters at each one. Got $2,400 in quarters which I'lll search tonight, and look for 2012 quarters (they are pretty rare, like the 2009 nickel and dimes. I am going ot save two rolls of each one out so far. We'll see if the other ones are as rare as the first ones, they they are lower mintage numbers than any quarter since the 50s!) I brought my canvas bag, went to the merchant window (that's where they almost ALWAYS have the halves anyway. Other tellers sell them to the merchant if they hold them for amore than a day or so) and picked up a few halves here and there. W ent to one bank and they had a box. SOmeone ordered it and dind't show up. Since I want to keep my rep up as the halves guy, I took it all. Sealed box, with sealed Brinks rolls, so definitely a enw box.

A skunk. Of course.

I expected it to be, as the new machine if pretty good at taking all the silver out. So - with this unasked for but taken box, I am now up to 88 skunks in a row. At least I'm doing okay wtih other denominations. :-) And I already HIT my goal of 100 40%ers for the year, when i got 6 solid rolls a few months back. Over 130 for the year already. And doing well on pennies, and okay with dimes plus getting some 2011 and 2012 quarters I still needed.

I'll let EVERYONE know when I get a box that is not a skunk. :-) UNtil then ... the count goes on. And no boxes actually on order still. :unhappysmiley:

You may not want to advertise this too much. Our area is littered with enough competion as it is. Phoenix sucks right? Right. I hope your not the moron who has been returning the entire box back with the searched Brinks rolls still in there? There is nothing more that advertises CRH than this method of dumping!
this is uncalled for. maybe invest your time in reading this before you go and comment elsewhere.

Ah... the technicality. Hate when my kids try to use it when called on their behavior. :BangHead:

What if the OP is returning the entire box back with the searched Brinks rolls still in there...? Then you are calling him a moron. What if I've been returning the entire box back with the searched Brinks rolls still in there...? Then you are calling me a moron. What if 4 other members were doing the same...? Then you are calling them a moron.

Maverick did not flame you for doing this. He just said it was not necessary, and to refrain from doing so.

The only person on a soapbox, from my observation, is you. "I called unspecified non-board members a moron, but it may apply to some of them" is still name calling. And, not necessary, as Maverick pointed out.

Many people love to CRH, and many people have differing opinions on how it should be done, whether coins should be marked or not, dumping methods, whether posts should have lots of spacing, etc. :laughing7: Name calling should just not be part of any of it. If you disagree, that is cool...! Please do...!

But please do it respectfully. As always, good luck and HH...! xoxo

This is my opinion. If you return a searched box of halves in the original box, original wrappers to a bank, it only enlightens EVERYONE who works there. The new guys says, why do people return boxes of halves, and then he is promptly told why, and then you have another informed teller. Yes, you are a complete moron for doing so, in my CRH opinion. I am not specifically calling out ANYONE on the forum. It's my CRH opinion, and a strong one at that! Let's protect CRH, we can start by not being lazy and returning the original box. As for Buffalo Boy, simply pasting the rules is ignorant. You called me a "new member" and I am "suppose to be nice". It's CLEARLY laid out in the Rules, not to talk down to a new member. I would just copy paste the link, but it's a click away. Why don't you re-read them yourself before attacking me? Now I'm done with this thread, I'm just saying my CRH opinions on a CRH forum. Far too much time, and so little to do, wait, strike that, reverse it. I said Good Day Sir!

There are many people on here who rewroll in CWR's and reuse the MWR's, though I don't I don't agree with the reusing of the MWR's, I don't call people on here morons and other names, and many other people would agree with me here that it's just not necesary. I think everyone needs to just take all the name calling and bickering down a notch here. We're here to talk about CRHing, not call each other names and bicker. Maverick.

I dont see an issue with reusing MWRs so long as you do it neatl. I just got a skunk where the rolls bearly held together on 80% of them and the other 20% broke. If the rolls look heavily molested the tellers are more likely to cry fool and send you to the counter bag.

Also I agree with the name calling stand and applaud you for getting the ramble inline.

I would agree I would rather see a teller bring out $200 worth of halves dropped off by a customer in reused bank wrappers as opposed to customer wrappers. At least with the reused wrappers I know to go on to the next bank and I know not waste my time looking through some one's dump. I am sure not everyone has coin machines at there disposal unless they are foolish enough to use coinstar and everyone probably does not make there dumps.

Now, if I got a "sealed box like sheepdog_tx did recently that was full of reused bank wrappers I would be pissed but that is a little different.

I have gotten sealed boxes full of reused bank wrappers twice in the past two weeks. One was resealed with Loomis tape. Got a box of MWR black Loomis wrappers today that was also a skunk. This hobby sucks.

I have to agree about getting sealed boxes that have previously open rolls must really stink. What the heck is Loomis or Brinks doing for there money. They would have know way of knowing if those rolls were complete and correct. I am certain none of there employees went through them and re-roll them before sealing the box.

I have been lucky so far I guess.

The hobby doesn't suck, just the skunks.
