well, first off it has to be there. not saying that it isn't there but sometimes it can be scarce. Digging those iffy targets can pay off as well. I have dug some dimes that I was surprised that they were silver. there are so many variables, the soil content, what is beside or above it etc. the more we dig, hopefully the more that we learn.

Practicing on silver coins won't assist you in finding silver in my opinion. Just keep after it and you'll get your silver along with the clad. If you really want silver then gaining access to private permissions will increase your chances of scoring silver coins. Location is a key factor in silver recovery.
