I went back to where I found my last silver quarter and tried something.

I planned on ONLY digging signals that I figured were possible AND
ONLY if they were 6 inches or deeper!

I was only out for a short time as this was just an experiment.
Did pretty fair. But, I'll get to that in a sec.

First, I'd like to ask you all what you would think if you came up on something
like this? :dontknow:

Untitled - 5.jpg

A hornet's nest?
A hummingbird's nest?
Somebody had their brains knocked out of 'em? :icon_scratch:

Nope....

Untitled - 6.jpg

Near as I can tell, it's a 'shroom! LOL
Biggest I've ever seen! LOL

Untitled - 7.jpg

It had a couple friends too. :)

Ok, so back to the hunt:

I didn't find very much, but I skipped all the gold rings this time. ;)
Wanted to see how this technique worked on deeper targets.

Never get used to it and never tire of seeing it! :)

Another one! Not quite in as good shape as the other but still! :)

A whole wheat toast & a button.
If you look close, you can see what looks like a
little gold in some of the corners. Blazer button? Other? :dontknow:

A lil less for wear but still with a full date. :)

vlcsnap-00439.jpg

'43 P silver nickle :)

All in all, a fairly successful experiment, even if I do say so my own self! LOL

Thanks for peeking!

You certainly are learning what all those controls can do!
Nicely done! Congrats!

I think you may have lost claim to the large silver....unless its already in your pocket. :sly:
Fishy has an auto part for his ever growing collection.

Nice nickle save!
I would have to grid a small area to try the no disc. Not sure how well it would work on the field i hunt which has large buried iron chunks, but one of these days i may try it.

I was going to say you must have had a good amount of rain for large mushrooms like those.
I leave them alone cause i'm not sure which ones are the eating kind.

Great post I see a lot of huge mushrooms on my hunt and I found a bees nest and I knew it stung 3 to 4 times it was in the ground I hunt like that when I have limited time also with my AT there is a slightly higher pitch with silver I have practiced at home with clad and silver. It takes a while but I can usually tell Great post and Thanks for always posting they are fun to read and winters coming I depend on others posts its not the same as hunting but it gets me through Nice finds!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great stuff. Love your thorough, fun posts. -Lizard

Thanks! Silver "streaks" come and they go. But, what I'm gaining in experience on my machine is priceless, (to me & no, Jeff! I didn't say it was worthless! ;) )

As far as my settings go, KyDigNQueen, I'm almost always running my ATP wide open and with a full charge. No discrimination, full sensitivity, iron audio on.

Cool! I started running mine on no discrimination a while back. Kywonder thought I was crazy but I told him that's how I probably ound the war nickel. It was dry and the signals weren't good so I decided to keep the sensitivity all the way up and discrimination on zero. You get used to the chatter after awhile. I tried that on the beach but finally went to 10 on discrimination due to all the chatter and due to the minerals in the sand i had to go down a notch on my sensitivity. Thanks for the great, detailed reply! :) Keep pulling the good stuff!
