Good day! This is not something I dug up but rather an item one of my coworkers asked about. In cleaning out drawers she came across a pair of old, metal salt and pepper shakers in the fashion of a saddled horse. She was curious as to age, maker and any potential value. I found something similar on Etsy stating the were from the 50’s and the pair shown were listed for $16. The one difference is that these are painted while the ones on Etsy were solid. Any help would be appreciated. 52EC1D4D-413B-4B21-8C4C-D59F86182C71.jpeg 0143A754-C34A-4DE2-A936-AAB84A51D37E.jpeg AE232D99-1E12-49F9-B642-3F5EE4635CB1.jpeg 740FFA11-4A4C-47FF-BF15-B34E3EE64715.jpeg 52EC1D4D-413B-4B21-8C4C-D59F86182C71.jpeg 0143A754-C34A-4DE2-A936-AAB84A51D37E.jpeg AE232D99-1E12-49F9-B642-3F5EE4635CB1.jpeg 740FFA11-4A4C-47FF-BF15-B34E3EE64715.jpeg

Just one? Or are both salt and pepper pictured? I can't tell.

Sorry. I only photographed one, but it is a matching pair. I apologize for the repeat pictures, as well.

My guess these s&p shakers were made in the mid to later 1950s when Roy Rogers, The Lone Ranger and Zoro were all the rage. If you ever wanna start a unique collection, vintage figurine s&p shakers would be a good one. I see so many in the antique shops and thrift stores priced very inexpensive. I always stop for a look in the section were they put all the s&p shakers in the big thrift shops in my area to see if they've placed any sterling silver ones on the shelf and I've got them for like $2.50 to $3.50 a pair and they'll have 20 bucks in good silver scrap.

I think Tamrock's assessment of age is probably correct. They appear to be made of cast pot metal so I personally would not wish to use one for salt.
