Are ya talking about a sluice when you say table?
If so, it is all dependent on your flow rate. The norm., from what I've read is 1'' drop per foot of sluice. I personally had to tweak that figure to the water flow where I was sluicing.
Someone with more expirence will come along and anwser but from my interpretation of your post and my expierences, it all depends on your water flow.

hey eureka, I just come in from trying my water table, not so good LOL. I think maybe I need more holes in my pvc. I put my black sands in that I left some tiny specks of gold in on purpose and after running I didn't find them LOL. My black sand is running down to the end but then it's just piling up right there on the end, maybe too much waterflow? and do the holes from the pvc have to be pointed more straight down or at an angle?
