Hi. Having read that it's harder to pick up a signal while detecting in wet sand does this also apply for saturated ground? Britain at the moment is absolutely saturated.

You are confusing topics. It's harder for detectors not designed for a salt environment to detect in WET SALT SAND because the the salt is conductive to a metal detector signal. Wet dirt typically helps by giving a little bit more depth for detectors. However, if it's sloppy (waterlogged), then digging can be a real pain in the rear.
