I have always enjoyed your posts, and the many things you find "In the Lane"..... I know others have asked, "What do you mean by "The Lane?" You answered the question, but I guess unless one walks in your shoes, you don't really understand what you are talking about. I think I finally figured it out from your pictures. Your pictures, seem to suggest an offshore sand bar with a deeper depression between the bar and the beach. The waves break at the outer bar and you are detecting in relatively calm water back in the deep depression that every swimmer plays in or at least travels through. Amazing!! Almost like the west coast of Florida or back bay waters. SC beaches are not that way at all. The surf crashes right onto the beach all the time. There may be a slight bar offshore but nothing to stop the wave action. Water hunting in SC means contending with wave action all the time. It makes me better appreciate the disadvantage of hunting SC beaches. Thanks for the photos and the picture stories.

Just curious, why are you bummed when there is no card in the phones?? Is there any way those would work anyhow, with the salt and all?
Heck, I have dropped more than one cell in the freshwater, and even with just a couple second dip, they are toast...
