Going through a box of cents. after unrolling a few rolls,i saw what i thought was a steel cent that had been cleaned.after looking at the date i was sure it was not steel. i thought it mite b a cent stamped on a dime blank. looking at the side it looked like two coins put togeather to make one coin. if yall know what this is & if there is any value let me know. thanks. ;D good luck to all.

Hey Copper,

I've heard TONS of stories that back in the 40's and 50's, it was not an uncommon experiment to dip coins into Mercury and such. I'm thinking it looks like maybe it was a dipped coin.

To check if it really is steel, put it to a magnet!

That actually looks like one of those hollowed out, trick coins. See if the two halves seperate. You photographed a notch that would suggest they do and the one half overlaps the other like they would come apart. Let us know if they do.

Its just a fake novelty coin. Usually coins are punched with dies, your coin is made be two halves of a mold then seperated.
