I was able to locate a foundation using a map overlay feature.
Spotted the apple trees & Rhubarb patch, knew I was close.
then a square well :icon_scratch: first one seen...
It is on a hill right beside some old RR tracks, and I mean right next to them.
mostly so full of tangled briars, it's inaccessible without bodyarmor.
There's a small grassy clearing (picnic area?), and the spots the deer cleared around the apple trees. I still lost a pint of blood :D
Apparently, someone was in the habit of taking flatware from a prestigious local hotel.
I think I found 6 spoons here,
best find, Aluminum 'Midol' box with coins inside :hello2:
Two wheats, two Silver war Nickels, and a worn 1917D merc. (my last merc was an Xfine
1916 without the D :'( )
My first buffalo nickel with a date.. (not in the box)
Anyway, a new site found, I'll get back there later in the season with brushpants
& see if I can pull anything else.
Does anyone have idea of what the inscribed brass thing might be?
Unfinished furniture trim? keyhole scribed, but uncut... design looks older than the other finds, it is slightly curved.
Thanks for looking! HH all ;D

Its an 18th C keyhole escutcheon. What is odd is the keyhole is marked out but not cut out, interesting. :icon_thumright:
Thanks all!
Crusader,
Apparently The site has been occupied a long time, (relatively)
The research is appreciated,
I thought the piece looked like it has some age, craftsman interrupted, or .....
something. another mystery ;D

research, not needed, just found a link so you can see something similar. I find loads of pieces, not many whole, as the plough breaks them up.

Herbie, a New Hampshire Hare couldn't hunt in there. You were right when you told me to wait for this post concerning spoons. You have recaptured your "Spoonbill" Will label. Cru knows his stuff and it is perplexing as to why it's a false lock cover. You have enjoyed a great year hunting Herbie that you will look back on as being one of your best. HH, Quindy.

pix are mostly of clear areas. look to the right of the apple trees (2nd pic) to see what most of it is like :o
Machete and brush pants will be a big help on my return trip, was wearing shorts & tee shirt, got home with blood soaked socks :laughing9:
Do watcha gotta do ;D
Poppa, thanks for the info on the QMC spoon,
