So Garry I'm Chompin at the bit to hear what else you found out about margaret Harris Perrone, either I am missing something or she sure traveled under the radar.

If I had her actual birth name I believe I could go from there.

The MRS C.I. Harris living in Hot Springs in 1940 was probably her daughter.

I believe Margaret went back east, probably for the war effort and that is when she met Carmine, in 1945 there is a Nurse Harris listed living in wayne county Michigan
and right down the street lives Placido and Barbarita Romero, these are the names of MRS C.I. Harris's neighbors in Hot Spring's, coincedence?

Did you find any connection to a W.G. Beal, or August Leseman, another Neighbor of MRS C.I. Harris was Minnie Rose listed as Nurse from missouri with a 4rth year college education.
Alot of people lived right there together in Hot Springs from Missouri.

Margaret starts showing back up in New Mexico news papers in 1956, only now her name is Perrone, She was attending events right up untill a month before she died, God rest her soul.

Also that lawyers name was Glenn Neumeyer, not Roger, he was on the city council in Las Cruces, and also handled alot of probate and adobtion cases.

I think charlie Harris may still be alive and living in clovis New mexico

BIGSCOTT,

Wow, you have been doing some digging. A "lot" of new stuff for me.

The water may become muddier before it begins to clear up.:)

I suspect we will be able to navigate it though.

One of the kickers is Margaret's birth date. right now I have her being born in 1871 (Burial Info), 1878 (SSN), 1888 (marriage record). census records, etc. That's 17 years difference and I have no reason to believe that any were clerical mistakes!

I'm going to start a new thread for Margaret Perrone and try posting some scanned documents. I hope their not too large and I have to rework them somehow.

See you on the other side.

~~~~~~~ Blues for Hot Springs Maggie ~~~~~~~~~~~
Woke up this Mornin'
with Maggie Perrone on my mind
I ain't misbehavin'
but I ain't leavin that woman behind
She danced at the Hall
and made cookies in the Dark
Hung her Wedding dress on the Wall
she pranced in the Park
Yea , woke this mornin
with Maggie on my mind
good old foxtrot lady
replete with a mind sublime
She bit the bullet
as some people say
while beating a dead horse
for eatin' all the hay
No , I ain't leavin Ol' Maggie Perrone behind
Next time you see me
I'll be packin' her in my mind .
Ol' Doc Noss
and Willie Do-It too
all loved ol' Maggie
like a well worn shoe
Long came Jack
that squirrel of a Boy
found an old map
and Maggie Jumped for Joy
They scoured the Hills
for gold bars supreme
Poppin' little green pills
seekin' the golden dream
No , ain't leavin' my Maggie Behind
Next time I dream , it'll be her on my mind .
I ran across this article in the Santa Fe New Mexican of September 18, 1973. It appeared in the Want Ads. I haven’t tried to research it but it does raise some questions in my mind. I didn’t realize that Willie tried to tie his Caballo Treasure to the Victorio Peak Treasure.
6Douthit - Notice to Attorney General NM (1973)07727b39ffe4e12949602020893bbfc_crop.jpg
It sounds like Willie was claiming that gold bars were stolen from his Caballo cache in 1931 and moved to Victorio Peak.
There was a search of the peak in 1973 (Willie was in New Mexico in 1973 as he was interviewed by individuals from the ONFP group at the time of that search) and the military group represented by F. Lee Baily was also claiming ownership of the treasure.
It raises several questions in my mind.
What was Willie’s purpose for running this ad?
Was Willie acting only in his own behalf? (No Partners)
What is a supplemental theft report?
What is Willie trying to say when he mentions the Catholic Church connection?
Is he referring to the Larue Story or maybe something else?
Another thing I have always wondered about is his name change.
I knew he went by Willie “Lee” in an early reference, but I thought Lee was simply an error and his middle name was always Laurence. (Not so)
The Foreman name came from his father (Ian) who changed his name from Douthit to Foreman sometime around 1915-1917. By that time Ian was an adult in his late twenties and it is certainly not clear why Ian abandoned his birth name of Douthit.
Willie’s younger sister always retained the name of Douthit until she married.
Why did Willie change his name after leaving New Mexico?
Had he wore out his welcome and wanted to make a fresh start in California or was there something more sinister involved?
I believe that even in the 1930’s, if someone changed their name, it would require a legal document. Maybe that will show up someday although I’m not sure where we would look.
I really don’t expect any answers but maybe someone will have some ideas for researching that would add a couple of pieces to the puzzle.
Ian was born a Douthit, his mother divorced then remarried a foreman, that is when Ian took on the Foreman name, but changed it back to Douthit after leaving home
and before marrying, he went back to Foreman sometime during his military years, maybe he went a.w.o.l. who knows.
Roger Snow says willie obtained the birth certificate of a dead cousin this would have been a step cousin, this was probably why his death certificate says he was born in oklahoma.
I have searched Oklahoma, Siver City area, and Albuquirque, Roger says it was Silver City but he wasnt sure, in 100 tons of gold willie said he went and stayed with relatives
after the second kidnapping in Albuqurque but I cant make any definite ties.
The hardcopy of Laurence Foremans book the back of each page is blank, whats up with that?
Laurence says looking at a blank page helps to asses what you just read, he also says this is the way alien books are.
Father Crespi had part of a ''Metal Library'' these books were this way, although they were etched and hammered on sheets of Brass or copper
Many people believed they were written by aliens.
