This time I tried the otherside of our yard. Got a lot of iron nails and junk, and 6 pennies one being a 1916 wheatie :o :D :D YES!!!! the oldest one I found so far. I have noticed something on the pennies I found today and the other days. The pennies pre-1982 are in better condition than the Zincolns, could it be because they're copper. The pennies are 1916, 1975, 1980, 1981, 1988 and 1994. If not raining :icon_sunny: tomorrow, I plan to hit that area again

Yeah, zinc is a very reactive metal. As soon as the thin outer copper clad is breached, zincolns erode away at an alarming rate. In certain soils, they barely make it few years before they're completely toasted.
