I just want to show you all my home made sand scoop
I bought this scoop at a hardware store and I drilled small enough holes for sand to go though.
and the finds are in the scoop.
This scoop is great for the city park sand play areas :icon_thumleft:

Those holes look really small to me .It would take forever for the sand to drain out.

I have made several prototype scoops and I can almost guarantee you will need bigger holes. If the sand is damp it will clog up the small holes as if they weren't there. even there , done that. Monty

I have seen some homemade equipment that works as good or better than somem of the expensive commercial models. I found out I was never that good an engineer! Good Work. Monty

I made the same scoop, bought it from a feed store as feed scoop. Paid $5 for it. I drilled 5/8" holes which I believe are the size of holes in commercial scoops, I know it will catch a dime and not let it fall through. Works great, except for having to bend over to use it.

;DToo lazy to knee down?
For only $9.95 you just make metal sand scoop drill 5/8"
and screaw in some sheet metal screaws with 5/8" mesh metal screening and get pipe from a hardware store and Bike handbar grips
weld or fasten the scoop to metal pipe and there's your non kneeing sand scoop.
if your that lazy.

Lazy, no, its slow and on the beach you are trying to shorten your recovery time so you can move to the next target. Maybe you will figure it out for yourself....eventually.

When beach hunting the name of the game is to recover your target as quick as possible and move on to the next target.......I hunt the beach with Excal and 15" WOT or Sov GT and 15"x18" SEF Butterfly coil......

I have used the plastic scoops and personally I much perfer the professional beach scoops. Try diggin 12-18 inches in wet sand with a plastic scoop, I can dig the same hole in 1/5 the time with my scoop....

Good luck and good hunting though.... :icon_thumright:
