Well, I had about 90 minutes to kill today, so I hit a spot out in the woods at the plantation property that I’ve been detecting at for years now. I had just started to recover a few CW bullets in this particular spot at the end of the last season.
It’s tough hunting though because you have to maneuver your coil in between a lot of small closely growing pine saplings to find targets and are constantly getting whipped in the face by branches. :tongue3: There were numerous iron signals today due to yesterdays rain including; a trace chain, an old hoe (not ho), RR spikes, and square nails. I was able to find one 3-ringer, a CW bullet cut in half , a suspender clip (?), piece of a heavy spoon, and some other odds and ends.

Nothing too amazing, but it was great to be finally get out in the cool weather, and not having to worry about snakes, ticks, and mosquitoes.

A short video:

Have a great weekend, and don’t forget to wear your blaze orange if going out into the woods.

You had a good hunt DUG!!! Ther iron spoon may actually be a pot handle and the tabbed piece may be a cup. The tab is where the handle broke off. If it's a cup, there should be evidence of where the bottom of the handle attrached. You are getting better at this CW stuff-LOL. Q.

might be a tree debarker or a gouge for making bowls. neat finds

Quindy,
I think you may have nailed it! In true Modern Miner form, I threw away a piece when I was cleaning my finds thinking it was junk.
You can see it laying on the towel in the woods photo and not in my cleaned finds photos. After you mentioned it could be part of a cup I remembered I had part of a cup in my Bentonville Battlefield CW relic case. The handle width on that cup and this piece I threw away are identical. Plus there is a solder area too on the piece I threw away. The piece matches the patina on my cup piece too.
You would think I would have learned not to throw anything away by now. :tongue3: :laughing9:
Once again Holmes, I think you've done it! :occasion14:
Thanks,
Dug

Good stuff Dug!
I remember that spot.
It was kinda thick in there and hard to swing.
I found that pocket watch bezel near there.
Hey you better give grandma her bra clip back! :D

Yep, that's the area Rob.
I think gravity may have finally taken hold on grandma and her bra clip couldn't take it anymore. I'd hate to be around to witness that! :o :tongue3: :laughing9:
Ya nut!

Great finds today Doug! :icon_thumright:
Love the look of the heavy trace chain! :o

I think your unidentified 'crushed' brass cone piece is the flame deflector from an oil lamp burner!

Take care buddy,
Dave

I was very afraid to open this thread at first... :laughing7: Say, where do you keep getting those Tesoro's from any way?

You did good out in those woods Doug. I see a plate in the near future.

Mike,
I was wondering how long it would take someone to bust on me about that title. :laughing9: You and I think alike.
As far as where I get my Tesoros from, I use this guy:

He's the best!!!
Thanks Buddy,
