Unique token. Very cool.

Interesting token! There are several of this style on Richard's Token Database - TokenCatalog.com, and they were popular in northern KY. This is of the style that was made by the Wright company in Cincinnati - check the token closely for that maker's mark. Could you please verify the spelling of Conlly? And, how about a re-take of the obverse side with the Murphy & Conlly in good focus? Thanks!

Awesome token!!!

Very very cool! Never seen one of those before.

thanks guys.

Cool token. I know Idaho token can help ya out. He is the token master. He helped me with one before.:icon_thumright:

By 1995, only two of this type had, apparently, been reported in Michigan; again, with the same Wright and Son (Cincy, Ohio) reference as 'idahotokens' pointed out above.

Great! Thanks for the clarification and picture! First shot at this says it was from the Dump Saloon, Claude W. Murphy & Mike J. Conley proprietors, at the corner of Megowan and Constitution Streets (380 Constitution) in Lexington. This is from a number of articles in the Lexington Herald newspaper. They had a number of run-ins with the law ca. 1910-13. The first appearance of the Murphy & Conley saloon that I can find in the Lexington City Directories is in 1909. In the 1919 City Directory, their saloon was at 112 N. Broadway, a more "uptown" location.

I think that Megowan Street has been renamed to Martin Luther King Blvd. If you put 380 Constitution Street into Google StreetView, there is a building there now that could well have been that saloon.

In 1918 Claude Woolfolke Murphy registered for the draft and said that he was owner of a saloon cafe at 112 North Broadway. Michael J. Conley also registered, but he just said he was self-employed in the saloon business, but did not give an address. Since they were shown as partners in the 1919 City Directory, they probably were in the year before as well.

After Prohibition, they ran several "cafes", but got into some trouble with the law for selling liquor. Both of these men died in Lexington and are buried in the Calvary Cemetery there.

Oh that is such a sweet, sweet, token!
And for an aluminum piece not being corroded,
that's just amazing.
Kudos!
