1879 PAT buckle

I found this today at a old log cabin site. It says PAT Dec 16, 1879, after a quick search I found it is a buckle shield off a horse harness. This is my very first homestead search with my MTX, so I am pretty jacked by putting a date on the cabin, as was the landowner. Montana didn't become a state until 1889, so it is a cool find. Can't post photo with my ipad for some reason, just imagine a brass buckle

I found exactly the same one a couple months ago on a farm site in Ohio. Very cool!
