Dug this today on a hunt with my buddies jdsly, Buttonboy and cbxjon. From what I can find it's a cadet button from Georgetown University. Not sure about the date and any input would be greatly appreciated. This site has produced over twenty military buttons and just when we think it's been hunted out it gives up some more treasure. Gotta love sites like this. Thanks for looking and hope everyone has a great Memorial Day weekend!

Looks real and what a neat design with the eagle and shield.Nice find, vanzutphen

nice button. pre-Civil War. pretty rare button to boot. a lot of these guys were pro-South/Confederacy so it does not surprise me it was found in SC. Huge congrats on the find.

Thanks vanzutphen. I knew it was different when I brushed the dirt off.

Thanks danimal. Nice to see it's pre civil war. At first glance I thought it was another WWI button but quickly saw it was different and looked older. Thanks again for the info.

Man that is one gorgeous button..Congrats on that.
I would love to add that to my collection.

Thats a great button Darby! Maybe there's more good stuff at that site.....keep following the dozer:)

That's a super nice and a new button posted here as far as my memory allows anyway. I like that design.

Thanks fano, Vino and jd. I'm glad to have found something different. And OldDude, I haven't been able to find one exactly like it on the internet either. Would be even better if it turns out to be rather rare! Thanks again y'all for your replies!

Very nice looking button

That's it Ironpatch! Thanks for the info. I like it saying "exceedingly rare"!! Thanks again

It's not listed in Alberts as being rare, but non dug and perfect, well that doesn't hurt. But regardless, at least it's CW or before, and that's basically what you want.

Thanks IP. I still get excited digging a flat button so when something different pops out it's a great hunt! Thanks again for your input.

I love digging buttons, and feel the same way.... anytime I can add something different to my collection it's a good day.

Thanks Rick. Hope you are doing great over there! Other than being pushed in on the front it is in very good condition. Thanks again for your reply.
