Bag Seal City - Day 2 + 6 Bonus Fields Day 2 - 4 Hammered & Stunning ROMAN SILVER !!!

Another lovely cool day with a breeze, & with luck on our side it had rained Saturday night.
Our strategy today was the same as Saturday. Hit the Stubble for a couple of hours & then move to the more productive field. This meant we covered the Roman Site in bite size pieces without wearing us down in the new stubble. Plus the straw isn't in yet, so that's 1 less run we can do & when they drive all over it to collect the straw it creates more tyre tracks for us. All these little things matter, if you want the best results.

2 Hours on Bag Seal City:
(Picture 1)
7 Roman Coins - 1 OK Follis of Galerius (not a common find for us)
Bits & bobs

3 Hours on 1 of the '6 Bonus Fields' - in the first hour we had 3 hammered.:laughing7:

2 Scrappies
17th C Buckle
Blank Lead Token
Post-Medieval Dagger Chape
4 Hammered:
  1. Cut half of Henry III
  2. OK Henry VII Half Groat
  3. Ed I Canterbury Penny
  4. Rare Edward IV Durham Mint
Roman Silver Denarius of Faustina Senior circa AD141.:headbang: We had been hoping for something like this when we started these bonus fields a couple of months back, it's taken us countless acres of gridding to get it but well worth the wait & we got the unlucky 13th Roman Silver off our back.

Cru'dad picked it off the top.:laughing7:

Impressive bunch of finds as usual...I would be happy with just a scrappy.

Drooling as usual! Congratulations!

Beautiful Roman silver! Congratulations!

Wow the old silver was popping for you guys today. Beautiful Denarius of Faustina Senior :icon_thumright:

That is some spectacular silver. The other finds are great too, in my opinion. Congrats!

Leave it to Cru' dad to pick the Denarius Faustina off the top...and undamaged by any plowing for centuries! I bow.:notworthy:

Now that's a really crisp Roman silver. Congrats to you Cru'dad

Your ham totals seem to doing well this season

What's the rectangle item in the first button photo (it's got some tin can on the end)

More outstanding finds - keep up the good work !

The bust side of that Roman coin is killer. Re:notworthy:

We targetted 60 hammered this year & I think we are on about 54 already!

Its a padlock cover.

Once again stunning! I can't believe the stuff you guys find, so much history in your posts. Sometimes wish I lived across the pond :)

"We are not worthy so much as to gather up the crumbs under thy Table !" Wow ! that Faustina is one special find !! Carry on !!...

THANKS ALL.

It will be a hard one to improve on this year, in terms of condition. (Its not a rare coin in the collecting world but a scarce find)
