I just got back from a trip to Italy, where I did a lot of hiking around Puglia and Campania. We were hiking in a spot that has some ruins from the 11th century (really cool spot - called Gallipoli)... anyway, I found this horseshoe and, given how thick the metal is and the...
I found this item in a field in Luxembourg (western Europe.)
I have found items in the area dating back to the 1600s as well as everything in between.
It is made out of lead.
Any help on what its purpose was or what the emblem at the top is would be much appreciated.
Yesterday I went on a walk to the public creek just down the road from my house. It was a very low tide so I decided to walk the shoreline and see what I could find. I ended up finding a couple of cool things from one of multiple sites where I believe there are old dump/wash-up sites.
First 1800s coin. First Indian Head cent. Oldest coin. I am finally starting to make some good finds at the old farm site. I went out last week and found the 1915 D wheatie and tags. The top tag is an elastic (sewing) tag and the bottom tag is from, I think, a money belt from the 1910s-40s...
Went out for a half hour with my son. He is only two so he lost interest pretty quick. Found pretty much all iron with a couple pull tabs. I don't mind a little old iron once in awhile. I have found quite a few harness buckles but none this large before.

Can you help determine the age of this artifact? The material is iron. This was discovered near an old mill/horse-stable. Unfortunately I cannot determine the age of the location, even the land owners don't know.
Hey guys! I am new to metal detecting as well as this site but I am a man who loves to do his research. On this particular find I have done all of the research I can do and I am still stumped so I am hoping for some help:
