Your finds are excellent, and your photos are great. Some nice old coins and a few silver ones too. 8)
Do you have any information on this item? My friend found one at an early 19th century site here last year.

Buckleboy
Well sorry BB but it looks like to me to be an old swivel from the steering system of an old automobile. Of course I will be wrong, but maybe you have to post some more photos of it first.

Well, the reason I asked is that we thought it was the top of the tightener screw from the jaws of a flintlock musket (the part that held the flint). The piece my friend found was just the end with the hole in it and not much else--but it is obvious to me that Hispan found the same piece.

I don't think it's a rocket launcher though--but thanks for your help!

Super finds Hispan :headbang: I'm glad you don't live here though :laughing9: we would all have to pack detecting in :laughing7:

You are right is a Medieval pilgrim badge , compared to other, represents two angels around a saint (which is missing the Head ) I have another, the same day found in the same field but can not represent.
thank you very much Rob.

WOW - great day

I hope to do as well as that today :-\

partner says something about these things elongated ... you have to know what they are for sure.

Sorry for the late response, I went out to hunt ;D

If it had two holes I would be sure, but with one hole :dontknow: All I can comment on is that is has some wear on one side of the hole. So it must have had something twisting or rubbing/pulling on it. I think it is too smaller hole for leather, so the obivious choice is a little metal attachment similar to the ones below:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/English-Civil...iewItem&pt=UK_Antiquities&hash=item2309252bed
This one happens to be a spur fittment, which the 2 'rivets' attached too, as this had 1 I'm a little stumped, but I guess it could have attached to leather.
