10-07-10 Early Stemmed Point?

Found a stemmed point yesterday and not sure what to type it as. It’s 2” long with a long base. I went out for a few hours today but only found flakes and cores. Not sure if this would fall into the early stemmed lance/Keiser point type or not. It sure looks like some lanceolate varieties illustrated in Paleo-Indian Artifacts by Lars Hothem. The long stem and big flaking is throwing me off and the base is only lightly ground.

It might well be.

What sticks out in your photo is that it is bi-beveled. (Instead of right beveled or left beveled, both at the same time, resulting in a steep-angled, axe-like edge). This is common on points of the Kirk Cluster (Early Archaic).

Here’s a picture of the other side and cross section. The picture of the other side shows were a big flake was taken off from the side of the stem to form the shoulder. The picture of the cross section shows that the beveling is fairly equal from all four sides of the blade. The thickness of the blade makes me think it was a knife or resharpened point.
