I'm so happy I went out to the woods and meet up with bilt46. We walked all over the woods hunting. I found a lot of old shotgun shells but no coins. We moved again and again, finally we went over to one of my secret areas and within about 15 min I found a BARBER QUARTER!!! When I first got the signal it was strong so I called Built46 over to check it out, he got a low tone, so I checked it again. I got a low foil tone too... What the heck is going on?? Then I checked it again and it was a strong silver signal, my SE was screaming at me. It was under neath a small fallen tree's roots down like 4 or 5 inches deep. The first thing I found was a crumpled up foil ball, that was the low tone that threw us off. With that trash out of the way I swept the coil over again, this time it was loud and clear!!! I pulled out a bug clump of dirt, I crumpled it to break it up and I saw the top of Ms. Liberty's head looking at me!!! I was so excited that I just kept saying "Its a Barber, Its a Barber"!!! Well here is the pix, I also have video of it too, I will get that up on here tonight!!!

I am still a little shaky, man what a feeling!!!!

Here is my days finds. The coke bottle is like from the 70's or so, its thick glass, but the writing is just painted on, but I'll keep it. The little food jar I kept because it has embossing on the bottom. It says: Aug. 5th 1919 Pat.

Sweet digs all around but that Barber is awesome!!! I think that little jar might be an old Gulden's Mustard jar...

Congrats...

Re: 10/19/08 Well I found my first Barber today!!! 25c

I saw the words on the bottom and 1919 so I kept it. The place used to be an old Boy Scouts camp from the 20's to the 60's, so it prolly is a mustard jar... LOL

I have been looking all over for a Barber, I figured I would find a dime first, but a quarter never crossed my mind!!! :icon_pirat:

Thanks for looking.

Way to go on the barber quarter. I too found a barber quarter before finding a barber dime. Trust that SE, it will let you know that there is more than one object there, nice work.

Congrats and ATA-BOY on the first!!!! Barbers are some of the funnest coins to dig. When i was first getting started on detecting, i dug two barber quarters in one yard and didnt realize until later on how rare that was. Now, any silver comes out of the ground and i'm happy.
Way to go and for now i dont think it would be healthy for you to dig a seated but i wish for one in your future!! 8)

Really enjoyed your video. Congratulations on your first barber. My first silver dime was a barber back in 1999. It took me 4 years to find my next one. I've never found a barber quarter. Outstanding find!
