10" BH Magnum Coil

I just got a 10" bounty hunter magnum coil in the mail yesterday from Kellyco. After attaching it to my cheapie "Fast Tracker" the first thing I noticed is how much heavier my detector now is to swing! :o I called the factory to find out some specs and the guy told me it could detect a coin in mineralized soil down to about 8". More importantly, there's a cache I'm hunting about the size of a cigar box which he claimed could only be picked up @ about a foot or slightly more down! I've picked up a beer can that was standing up with my factory 7" coil deeper than that!!!
What's the "real deal" with a coil this size? Is it an old coin and cache hunter's dream or a boat anchor??? Any thoughts or experiences on 10" coils would be appreciated....

Larger coils will put out a field that is deeper and larger around which gives you more coverage. If you have the arm muscles you will hardly notice it if your young. If they make a coil ten foot round, somebody would buy it. Beach hunters like the 15 inch WOT coil from Coiltech, but it is lighter than anything you can get for a BH.
