P.S. Keep striking it, if you want it!
Vp here, the Bone Dry Crew got out today to a 1890's park/picnic area - which is kinda out of character for us, we had a nice colonial location setup for today but the ground in the farm fields is still frozen solid, so we went back in the woods and hunted this park. It has produced some nice coins in the past I've been told, so we all figured what the heck let's give it a try.
Now after about 3 hours of hunting, I was off by myself when I got an iffy signal deep. I dug and dug and came up with the Barber Quarter first and then the pocket knife.
I finally found the guys about a half mile away in the farm fields bordering the old park. I walked up to them cursing and saying "d&mn, i can't believe there's no silver in this place !!! did you guys find anything" "no they replied" - "you find anything" they asked, "nah, not really" i said - "well i did find this old pocket knife" handing it to them, they examined it and said "yeah that's cool"... in the same low tone of voice i pulled out the barber quarter and said "oh yeah ... i found this Barber Quarter in the same hole ..." Their eyes lit up and said what the %%%@@@@
!!!!!! we all did the bone dry dance yelling and high fiving !it was too funny !
The quarter/knife combination was found almost 10 inches deep in some very muddy soil with my SE and the stock 10" coil.
I'll post additional pictures after I clean it with some water/soap.
Take care,

& definately barber !Crocop said:Thanks Vpone, I've asked Joe G to meet me at some of my other spots and didn't think twice about it, one site goes back to the late 1600's. Joe and I have chewwed on the same dirt and he's a man to be treated with respect, if there was a football field with 10 coins on it he would find 8 of them and I would find the other two (and the gold ring), I just threw that one in there.
KirkPA said:Yeah, I keep my sites secret from my buddies because I am afraid they are going to find all the coins (Joe G). Yeah, I'm the one who needs help.![]()

) he'll just be reading MY posts
Give me a break... I'll take any silver, any day and to be honest, watchin' the guys I've hunted with find silver (yes, even common silver) gives me as big a thrill as if I found it myself. Heck, I get a big kick out of Rick calling me on my cell to tell me he just found some silver
I know when I have a good find, they're just as happy for me.

That's what I thought. I too and I'm sure everyone here, or almost everyone here will take silver of any kind, be it a 64' rosie or a 1684 Spanish cut silver. Of course the Colonial silver that me and my buddies and you and your buddies go for is far more appealing. Making the good finds is just icing on the cake to having a good time with good friends that are addicted to the hobby as much as myself. Take care and good luck out there.vpone said:Mike95inNJ said:Hello All,KirkPA said:If it is new wilver, I don't want it.My brother, zoy, almost threw a Barber quarter he found. "Too new."

Hey VP... the colonial site is an old park with some woods and dense brush. Mike and I picked up some musket balls, buckles, LC's and I've gotten quite a few buttons there. My oldest coin is a Wm and Mary British 1/2 cent circa 1694. It's basically toast but you can make out the silhouette. There are very few targets in the hard to get to areas (a lot of hands and knees through thorns) Right now I'm trying to focus on woods with history before the ticks come.

Sorry to hear about your dilemma, hopefully it will all work out for you...........life is too short, enjoy it while you canhikermike said:Great finds!! I like it all New silver...old silver....any silver! I get laughed at for all the pennies I pick up
I have learned since being diagnosed with a rare form of cancer of the bone marrow that just being
able to get out and detect is a gift, and anything I find is an added bonus! Good work!!
