100,000 members is coming up soon

[lost it]

I just noticed our members list is over 99,000 --I just read an article stating there are around 20,00 detectorists in the U.S. I think this number must be wayyyyy off. I think there must be a lot more of us out there than the journalist realizes. What do you think? Any guesses as to when we will hit the 100,000 mark?

There are a lot more than 20,000 I am sure....

its kinda like drumsets...there are hundreds in every town and one or two real drummers.few people stick with detecting long enuf to develop any skills.I'm glad its tough, thins the herd.personally I would be surprised if there are more than 5000 skilled detectorists in lower 48
