got out for a couple of hours this morning, here are my finds. 2 IH's and 2 wheats, plus a nice old tie clip. my first fatty and man can you tell the difference. its a lot thicker so a knew thats what I had even though I couldnt read the date until I got home. also you can tell it has more nickel in it by the way it cleans up, almost like a buffalo. anyway, thanks for lookin, Griff.

Nice finds Griff!! Love the Indians. That 64 is in pretty good shape too. WTG. Dan

Wow, don't you love digging the oldies! Congrats! I dug a '64 altho I think it's the bronze version, skinny. Yours, I can easily read the Liberty. ffd

Congrats on the first. Next stop. Flying eagle. They are made just like the fatty. Keep em coming.

they call them fatty's because they are a lot thicker of a coin, I mean alot. I never realized it until I was holding one in my hand. I thought I had token at first until I could tell it was an IH, then I knew I must have a fatty. I think they only made them 1860-1864. Jim C. said the flying eagles are like that too, hopefully I can confirm that on my next hunt ;D

Oh ok. All 1860's to 1864's are fattys or just some? Interesting.... learn something new everyday. Gonna have to check my albums now. :icon_thumleft: Good luck on that eagle penny! A lot of nice coins have been turning up here in Michigan. That may be the next post.
Happy hunting man! :headbang:
