1280x trouble chattering in water

cheers all-I have trouble with my 1280x when I start out detecting in the water it is fine but, after 1/2 hour or so the machine starts chattering like crazy,signals or targets come through but are hard to hear-any thoughts anyone-btw discrimination set to 0 and sensitivity set to 10-never had trouble before -just good finds

There could be a few causes. If using a coil cover, remove it and wash out the black sand. Change the batteries and be sure to check the seal of the door. If it happens when the box gets wet, you may have condenseation in the control box and it will have to be sent back to Fisher. Or a small hole in the wire.
