I posted better pics today of the coin I found in Northern Italy last week. I've received a lot of help from Detector enthusiasts on this site, but still haven't pinpointed the exact name of this coin... I'd like to know if anyone has ever sent in their coins to be identified by reputable businesses??? I almost feel like that's a dumb question, but after looking at thousands of coins like its kind and winding up without an answer, I'm willing to go the distance to find out the history on this coin... :) It has a story and I'd like to find it out.... lol.... :coffee2:

Thanks for your service :notworthy: and I also acknowledge your persistence.
You might try getting some of the remaining crud off, then ID-ing may come faster.

Is it bigger than a quarter or smaller than a dime? Weight would be helpful in IDing as well.

Mackaydon!!! Thanks brother for the kind words. I have the worst luck in cleaning coins. I'm almost positive this coin is copper or bronze... The funny thing is that many people have found tons of other coins with some similarities, but none with the same reverse side, and no exact front matches either.... After researching mint companies in Italy and the history of their past and where the coin is located geographically, this could definitely be from the crusader period, or even earlier. 90% of the crusader coins have the cross extending to the edges of the coin, and mine doesn't go that far. Anyhoot. Thanks for the post!!!

DC Matt, here are more images. Sorry bout that. Dime is 18cm and coin is 17cm. No weight showed on the food scale... It's half the thickness of a dime... dime 18cm coin 17cm image.webpon top of dime image.webpside by side to dime image.webpthumb image of coin and dime sideways view.webp
