Hello!

Got out today although I waisted a lot of time driving from school to school as they are getting ready for school starting next week so a lot of the play areas were freshly covered with a foot of new woodchips on the play areas. Too much/deep for my old detector so I don't even try. I was prepared and expected this and had a lot of schools on my list with directions. I got in 4 hours of detecting at two schools. It was another great day out there, a little slow, but I got some keepers as explained below. $7.42 in clad, 85 coins and a Mexican $1 peso.

I got a few keepers including a really nice 14K gold cross, found under a swing. A sterling 925 "S" pendant, found 5 inches from a steel play structure support pole. And at the opposite pole on the same structure I dug a sweet ring, 6 inches from the that pole, that at first I thought was a diamond wedding ring. A real heart stopper! It's not though as it's plated but the stones are amazing. They are CZ's I guess, but they sure have the ice look to them. I also got a small sterling hoop earring and a small heart that was deep and not tarnished so it may be silver? Also, a very cool find, the tiniest of gold crosses with a small diamond chip in it. It's like 1/4" tall and must have been on a very thin chain? I also got a nice blue gemstone bracelet but it's not sterling.

I also got a large assortment of fobs and junk jewelry including a huge gold screw on earring and another lot of beading silver links. All in all, a great day.

Happy hunting to you all. Thanks for reading!

Nice finds for schools,I've pretty much have been getting skunked in our school playgrounds.-HH

Nice finds.
I have a circuit of school and parks too, almost like running a trapline. Anybody can pay a machine in a short time doing it like that.

GREAT FINDS ;D. LOVE THE CROSS. DON'T FIND MANY OF THOSE
Thanks Metalman!!

I just have to say that just never lose the thought that the next signal will be a keeper. It's so easy to cut corners, get lazy and skip some areas, or give up on a site when the finds slow down. I found the cross in a swing set on the last swing after not finding much in the rest of that area, two coins maybe. So at the last minute, this keeper pops out and made my day.

I always think to myself to be thorough and that the next signal will be that diamond ring.

Happy hunting!

BDoo,

great finds. What size coil are you using. Whenever I hit a playground, I always plagued by all the steel poles etc... . I guess its takes alot of patience. Down here, I'm always expecting someone to call the police.

Hi gold-digger

For the woodchip areas at the schoolyards, I use an older detector. A Garrett TR machine from the early 1980's. I have mastered this machine which is always a key for success using any machine. The coil is 7 inch diameter and pinpoints directly on center. I have learned to hear the slightest differences in sound when there is a signal close to the steel posts even though, of course, my machine is sounding off from the post. When there's a find there too, I can sometimes hear a slight intensity increase. Then I swing back and forth from all directions trying to verify and repeat that signal. Or sometimes if I think I heard a signal increase, I just scoop all the chips away from the post and re-scan it again with the detector. I almost always find things near the posts as the newer machines are so sensative and this one less, I am thinking the new machines miss these items.

thanks for the read and comment.

Looks like you have the positive attitude we all need. It shows in what you have found.
Great job. Keep it up.

I agree with Mona Your amazing!! uh....I mean that in a good way. When ever I hear it. It's usually a bad thing. Nice haul!!! WTG!!! HH

Nice work as usual BDoo!

I've always figured you were getting closer to those posts than I can.

My machine sounds off a couple of feet away from them--sometimes its like I have to skip half the play area due to all the steel.

Keep up the good work!

what great finds, I would like to get 1/4 of that in one day

Absolutely awesome pile of finds Boobydoo. Congratulations on the nice jewelry.
