All Treasure Hunting
Headed down south 330am Sunday morning.
Pulled into the hotel in SC at 130pm.
Monday morning went to hunt a plantation with a few tnet friends. CT,Tom and Todlip, And Jon VMIairpower.
All great guys.
The hunt was less then productive. But it was great scenery, with so much history. Just sitting by the water for a few moments were the slaves lived was beyond words!! ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1452713636.251607.webp
I left the hunt by 2pm to get on the road to head to Virginia.
Pulled into the hotel in Virginia at 8pm.
Met up with Bill D The next morning at 7am, then drove another hour to the site. And met up with Joey fresh.
First time meeting Joey and he was a great host and great guy.
We were chopping at the bit to go.
By the time I got my headphones on and ground balanced I look up and wow, Bill was gone!! Lol!!
I have to say, I was intimidated. There had to be 300 ac.
I followed Joey up the ridge. And got this deep iron signal and dug it out. This is what came out. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1452714509.369771.webp
After that is was lots of lead shot shot gun stamps and some buttons in between. It was the easiest digging I ever did. Beautiful sandy soil. And the finds came out like the day they were dropped.
I found some great things!! The best of the day was this button. My first ever lead button. Joey said, looks like it was just taken out of the mold. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1452714801.509637.webpImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1452714826.297278.webp
Also a few other pewter buttons. And flat buttons.ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1452714905.007024.webpImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1452714927.961598.webpImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1452714967.350363.webpImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1452714995.970041.webpImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1452715017.190919.webpImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1452715043.327383.webp
I found this pic on the net, looks just like the one I found.
This one came from England. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1452715134.239866.webp
This was a really cool find, a buck and ball mold..
I like this oneImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1452715274.892995.webp
And here is a buckle piece or something like it.ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1452715316.197024.webpImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1452715330.567759.webp
So we finished up around 4pm, and off I went back to Philadelphia. 5 hours later I was home.
It was a great trip with some really fantastic people to hunt with.
Thanks again Bill and Joey!!
Ps, One thing I have learned is they didn't have as much money to lose down south!! Lol
Lots of great old relics though!!

Thanks Allen,
Beautiful county you have down there..
Are you sure you will not trade? Lol..
I promise it will be in good hands

OK I'll.put you on Top of my list. How about that?

Sounds like a kickass trip George! That pewter button with the ragged edges reminds me of a cross and pellets Edwardian hammered silver. Pretty cool stuff, and time spent with like minded people digging sounds great too.

Killer lead button man. Really looking forward to seeing that stirrup cleaned up too. Sounds like a fun trip with some great friends. I think I have a similar pewter design button... I'll send you a picture when I get home this weekend.

Glad you got to see some southern history and hang out with like minded individuals. Wish you would have found a cob or spectacle buckle.

MUST BE NICE TO FIND SOME HISTORY LIKE THAT . WHAT NEEEET FINDS .

Thanks Mike,
It was blast,
It's funny I thought it look like a hammered.
Wonder if it's any relation?
Man it was a warm up for England, lots of walking.
I met Jon who's going with us. Great guy! We're going to have a lot of fun..

You were hunting a pretty old spot, so that button could have been a throwback to the old hammered coin style I suppose. I wonder if anybody else has found a button similar?

It's going to be really great to meet you guys and do some mega hunting...only 2.5 months to go!

That's quite the road trip, a good warm up for digging on large fields. Cool button it's a real nice keeper.

I'm not sure if you've used this plotter for acreage before, it works real slick. Sometimes a field looks so big it's fun to see what acreage it actually is. I've also used it to plot what is the actual homestead site size compare it to what the old atlas says.

I know the entire farm is 380 acres and the section we detected is around 40 acres and we really only concentrated on half that which is still a lot if you're gridding it. Field hunting is a helluva workout especially if your gridding and digging every non ferrous target.
You kept up a good pace George and I'm sure you'll have no issue in England especially if you're digging gold staters!

In England it's a numbers game, more targets-more the chances of getting a good one.

Now that's dedication george!, not too shabby on the digs, getting to meet those southern boys must've been alot of fun!

George that was a better offer this morning but you must KICK IT up a notch to get it.Make ¢ents?

Really nice button George. Nothing like hunting those sandy VA fields with good company. Good luck next time out.

Nice trip George
I like your neck of the woods better, not being rude, I do it, but looking for brick, pottery shards and iron patches just don't hold a candle to going to the still standing 1600's house!
Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

The still standing house is going to have a lot of modern trash...I know. Finding an undocumented 17th century house site in a field is a dream come true!! You know every signal is going to be something good.
