One of my new favourites.
Was about to leave since it was already quite late and it started to rain. On my way back I decided to walk over an area that as I thought was cleared of any relevant treasures, since I've been there over and over again.
The last signal made me dance with joy. Found my first signet in a perfect condition. Hope it's not the last one I'll find.

Gorgeous ancient find!

Dang that things old. Great find!

Wow! That is a beautiful and unique piece of history. My area is mostly not old enough to have anything like that. I hope someday to be able to find something as old and cool as that!

Cool!!! Nice!!! Congrats!!!

A fine example of a wax seal! You can see that not only everyone with a seal had the funds to get him a fine cut one with decorated shaft. I like it a lot!

I love the signet ring. Hope you find lots more there!

Cool as heck....probably lost by Nathaniel Williams:tongue3:

Amazing, thank you for sharing!

Super find
Congrats

We call the Seal Matrix or 'Seals'. Without me checking are you sure its 16th C, I think it looks circa 1650 (based on Seal style & letter type)?

As it's a German find, what date range would you give it?

That is a really cool find

Something was wrong with with the date... With your post i knew what it was. Yes, by letter and crest style i agree with you. Early to mid 17thC. :occasion14:

Killer relic, congrats! :icon_thumleft:

Wow congrats that thing is beautiful!!! Looks pretty perfect! I think if you ever display it you should have the wax stamped next to it to show the design as it was meant to be seen.

Thanks, it was a very good feeling as I realised, what it was!
I'm quite sure it is 16th century! There is a database for signets with a lot of different examples.
I sent them some pictures and they said it's from the 16th century due to the form of the shield (so called tartschenförmiges Wappenschild..I have absolutely no idea, if there's even an english word for this).
