1700's Complete Knee Buckle, Pewter Button & A Couple Whats It's

Hi All, these are from my last hunt. No coins were found, but a really nice 1700's complete knee buckle was found. Also another iron buckle frame and the pewter button too. I did find the two what's it finds also. I put them in the same picture together if anyone has any idea what they might be it would be cool to hear. I will post them in the What's It forum if no one knows here. Overall it was a good hunt. Thanks for looking.

My only book clasp was an early 1700s style one dug at a mid 1800s site. Books were treasured possessions, and they lasted a long time! That's a great find, IMO. Great to get an item from the 1500s or 1600s over here, regardless of what it is!

Cheers,

Buck

Buckle I agree with you totally, I must say I am very stoked to find out this is either 1500's or 1600's and I thought the Buckle made my hunt :laughing7:. This is a very early site that just keeps on given :occasion14:

Great finds Bubba! Nice and early too. I have never found one of those book clasps (at least not that I recognized as such). I believe your buckle is a knee buckle, not a small shoe buckle.

Thanks Steve I think it is a knee buckle to that is why my title is worded the way it is

I'd go back to that spot soon. It's offering up some real old finds.

Awesome buckle Bubba!

I now think you might be right, it was the size next to the button that bothered me, as knee buckles rarely exceed 30x40mm (whats yours?). Although because it has a '2' pronged tongue with an anchor chape instead of '1' its more likely a knee buckle.
