I bought this coin at the flea market today. It looks like the date is either 1740 or 1749. This coin was un-carded when I bought it. I paid $5 for it so I think I got a good deal :dontknow:.

1749 Farthing.

Is there a way to find out what type of coin(Penny, nickel, ect.) it is by looking at it?

I know what it is now. I was just wondering if there is a way to tell its denomination(Half penny, farthing, ect.) just by looking at it.

Just by measuring it, a Farthing is 22-23mm, a Half penny is 28-30mm :icon_thumleft:.

Yes, the dies are unique to the Farthing with the reverse being more obvious. I didn't need to know the size to tell you what it is.
