1761 LARGE, little silver,Indian, Buttons, and Misc.

I want to Thank Jeff of Pa for identifying the swedish 1 or coin.
And thanks to Mackaydon for the history of AF--The king who ate himself to death.

Perfect weather here for hunting the fields. The past couple of afternoons I have been hunting a field where an old farmstead stood many years ago.

These are my finds. The large coin is a 1761 Swedish 1 or coin.
The small piece of silver looks like part of the handle of a spoon--not sure.
I could use some help IDing the buttons. The backs of the small ones are toasted---Not too old I think.

I couldn't resist adding this 'morsel' from that source: "The king died of digestion problems on February 12, 1771 after having consumed a meal consisting of lobster, caviar, sauerkraut, kippers and champagne, which was topped off with 14 servings of his favourite dessert: semla served in a bowl of hot milk. He is thus remembered by Swedish school children as "the king who ate himself to death."

Thanks Mike----The finds seem to be in one area- about 150 by 150 feet.
Ptobably where the old homestead was.

Those are nice digs Merf.

That field will bring you back in time. A long time ago here for the states. That button is a really nice one. Pre 1799 for sure. I'd scour that field with no disc on and a larger coil.

Thanks Nick----That King was a good eater-----If He had the good fortune to enjoy Mrs. Pappageorgio's cooking he would have eaten more and not lasted as long, no doubt.

I am not sure TY-----There was a farmstead there in the early 1900s---I don't know what was there before that. Maybe a trappers cabin. It was a wooded area until about 1830.

I am thinking maybe that school site was pounded back in the 80s.
It was torn down in 1979 I heard. It would be worth checking out.

Man, what a great hunt! As old as that coin is, I'd expect it was something a Swedish settler had gotten from his grandpa before travelling from the old country--not something someone would expect to spend here.

Nice Indian, too, and some great relics.
