I had a blast digging up a mess of buttons in a quick 2 hour hunt this morning. I am mostly a one trick pony as far as my sites have gone this past year. I do have other sites, but when the good stuff keeps coming from the one big one, its tough for me to branch out in the limited time I have to detect. Well, this morning I decided to hit a site for a couple hours that is close to home. The first time I was there some dirt was moved and I found this FE. http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/t...flying-eagle-colonial-relics-auction-buy.html I took a buddy there the following weekend and we found a whole bunch of nothing... so I never went back.

I had no expectations this morning, but I was pleased to see how much under brush was dead. I have to say, with 100+ hours on the Deus, I am really understanding that machine. If I was not well versed in it with deep low conductor targets, I would have only dug maybe two of these buttons today. It's great to feel like I finally have this machine down, however I know I will always have more to learn.

After spending 8 hours yesterday and digging a similar amount of buttons at my main site with those NY buttons, it made me realize this morning that I need to start going to some other places. I found more in 2 hours than I did all day yesterday and it was a ton of fun.

The 1770 reale button had my heart stop... then I saw the shank and the flaking... ran it across the coil and saw it was now reading in the 50's. Its is definitely one of my all time favorite buttons though. I dug 5 pewter buttons and 3 of them looked like they had someone on the front under the dirt. However only one had a design and it was not military. Still pretty cool.

Great group of buttons, with three of the pewters having an iron loop through the back. It looks like this site might be a bit older than I thought.

Any idea what this is? Looks like a fancy brass hinge part, but it has what appears to be a stop to it to limit its range of motion maybe? The fancy "handle" part is also broken.

I love that pillar link and would love to find one...or a pair myself. I understand the limited-time situation and it's always a tough call to try to secure permission at a new site or to hit a site that you know will at least produce something good and it looks like you made the correct decision. I wish I had all the time in the world like some retired people I know or like self-made millionaires like Crusader[emoji1]

Hey I resemble that remark :laughing7:. But look at it this way Joey - 25 years from now you'll still be digging all those cobs while I'm 6 feet under:angel11:.

Bill, you'll live forever!

Nice stuff OA. That cuff link is something else.Wtg

SWEET FINDS ...

Amazing buttons! Congrats!

Thanks a ton DigIron! I'll be back to see if I can find the other half, although doubtful since its so small and thing its hard to get much depth on them.

Thanks sutphin!
