1775 CFT "Pinocchio" Nose! LOL

Well....It's a start anyways. Found a CFT. 1775 "Pinocchio" nose Georgie. I've heard of these but never seen one. Weighs 90 grains and is 28mm. Pics aren't that great, BUT I NOW OWN A GOOD CAMERA! ;D. Just have to work on my photo skills. :laughing7: Very slightly grazed the coin with my shovel. This thing was about 8-10" deep. Got a nice shoe buckle and what looks like a childs silver ring. Nice, but very crudely made. No marks. HH Hogge

Re: 1775 CFT "Pinocchio" Nose! LOL

I have been wishing for a George of my own for a long time now. Wouldn it be ironic to find a counterfeit before the real deal ::)

Grat job on the recovery and keep them coming :notworthy:

Well rounded anyways. A relic, some jewelry, and spare change! :laughing9:

Sweet King George III halfpenny. In my opinion, the ornate 18th century shoe buckle frame is the day maker!

Very productive hunt. That nose is awesome. You did great. The totality of your finds would put a spring in any colonial hunters step.

Sure like to see a cleaned George. Gonna use some acetone on it?

Re: 1775 CFT "Pinocchio" Nose! LOL

Another great post my friend! I also think the find of the day is the buckle, but they are all great finds!

Photo Tip of the day: Use the macro setting (tulip icon) about 8 inches above the coin, in direct sunlight when the sun is low in the sky (around 4PM this time of year). This will create slight shadows that highlight the relief on the coin, bringing out more detail. Use a tripod if you can to steady the camera and use the self timer.

and one more thing...unless you have one of those new dust/shock/waterproof models, don't take it detecting with you. I just ruined another camera when dust got into the zoom.
