1775 "Georgivs III Hibernia" George III Irish Half Pence?
Golden1 and I went to a spot in a nearby town that he knew of. On an old map of our area in 1850 the house site was there. Just a grown in vacant lot now. Almost too grown in to detect but we decided to give it an hr. anyways. We had about a 20 square yd open area and some light weeds then severely grown in. About 1/2 hr into it I got a dead bottlcap hit on the Prism IV at 2" if ya can believe it! Thought it was junk of course so I sank the shovel in an hit a BIG rock about 3" down. Popped the plug over and scanned it....Nothing. Put the detector down and saw the coin sitting outside the hole next to me. Thought it was a button till I picked it up and saw "III". DICKIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOUR NOT GONNA BELIEVE IT!!!!! As he walked over I repeated myself about 5 more times. Back is slightly more worn than the front but date, letters and everthing in it are well readable. Once again, coin detail under light and magnification are alot better than the scan shows. Front has lots of detail. Friggin' AWESOME! So now I would need some help on ID. I will go to computer, maybe one of you guys is faster. HAS REEDED EDGE and 1 other tidbit....."GEORGIVS",(or at least the "IVS") is doubled as you can clearly see in the "S" in the scan! So c'mon guys help me out. Thanks HOGGE
I guess I've had some good luck this week. P.S. Thanks again to my good friend Golden1 for taking me to a nice spot!
