1786-7 Copper Bust!!! And I'm still flying HIGH!!! Cleaned up photos Updated

Howard, Civilman and I had a chance to hunt a 1760 home that we do restorations at
occasionally. The mother doesn't like us hunting there, but the son said we could
hunt when she is out of town. She was out today.
For the first time, we hit the field, can't dig near the house. Just your usual
tractor parts, nails and aluminum for most of the time.
I decided to head for the old tractor barn and on the way over there I get a Nickel
hit. Passed it up figuring more aluminum pieces. Two steps further I hit on a quarter.
The XLT tells me it is 8 inches down. I'm thinking silver. To my surprise I pull out
a copper but can't see anything on it.
Decided to go back to the nickel hit and dig it up. A beautiful 1911 V.

I immediately called Joe and Howard over to scour the area real good. We came up with
no more coins.
Back at the trucks, Howard is playing with the copper and all of a sudden you can read
"CONNEC" on one side and "IND" on the other.
After getting home I check the book and realize I have a 1786 or 1787 Copper Bust!!!

I know how you feel, there's a old farm (c.1825) up the road from me, her son is a great guy (age 70) and she's 100yrs old but isn't too keen on strangers around. So he said I can hunt the fields but not around the house. But someday... sadly she won't be around but I'll still be watching the place, patiently waiting.

Nice Dig! ... just think ahead - holidays are here and the old lady could be out of town again real soon for a few days! ;D

You'd better watch out, You'd better not cry 'cause she'll be outta town and won't be telling you why!
So sneak downstairs and pull out the machine, its a huntin' you'll go before she see's anything! :D

Nice coinage!

LOL @ hunting only when one person is out of town....

More than once I've knocked on a door and got permission to hunt a yard, only to have someone show up later and veto my permission!? :-\

Looks like that Connecticut has some good detail left on it. Post a picture after you get it cleaned up a bit. Great find.

After quite a few hot peroxide baths, this is the cleanest I think
it will get.
If anybody has any ideas on how to get it cleaner, please let me
know. Thanks.
