Found this coin approx. 8" in dry sand at a near-by beach a couple of weeks ago.

Earliest dated coin I have ever found.

:laughing7: Thanks, Bruce; not this one, I promise! I learned the hard way with a couple of nice "V" nickels that I ruined by trying to clean them up. :(

I haven't touched the surface of this coin since I recovered it from the sand; I'll save the shining for those pitted "mercs" and "roosies" ;D

Very nice. I grew up on the opposite shore, on the North Shore of Long Island.
